Donna Sabino, a researcher who has come up with solid data for many years, reported in the new Ipsos LMX Family survey that dads are spending more time with kids.
However, Michelle Obama should take note: that dad time is heavily skewed toward media, entertainment and playing online. Sounds like a prime population for the Let’s Move campaign.
One aspect of the research was especially troubling, but confirms what other research and observations have shown. Study data was from parents of kids under the age of 12. Dads were far more likely than moms to “friend” their kids online. Here’s the problem: all the kids were under the official age to join social networks.
