Why was media so surprised that 21% of Americans have read an e-book?
Earlier this month, results of a new Pew survey generated significant headlines. I couldn’t understand the reason people got so excited. I mean, the Pew data indicated that e-book readers are first and foremost, readers: people who read a lot in many formats. (Link below.)
Embracing e-books is simply part of the ongoing shift to digital. No big headline buried there. Now if research ever revealed that using an electronic device is better for a child than reading a traditional book with a parent, that would make a worthy headline.
