As the unmistakable fragrance of sunscreen wafted over the pool this past weekend, my mind jumped back to data published just a couple of months ago. The report was picked up by USA Today, but a cold weather snap at the time evidently didn’t catapult the study to headline news.
The bottom line: even “safer” products may contain potentially harmful chemicals. Unfortunately for parents seeking to protect children from harmful rays, sunscreen was a major culprit.
The co-author of the study results, published in Environmental Health Perspectives offered two suggestions : use products with plant-based ingredients and avoid fragrances.
