Happy Meal buyers in the UK will leave the Golden Arches with a book tucked under their arm.
To follow-up their 2012 field test, in which nine million books were given away, McD has started a “Happy Readers” program. During the first five weeks of the program, which began in mid-January, children get free books from the DK Amazing World non-fiction series. Or, young readers can choose their own books at WH Smith, a retailer.
Wouldn’t it be great if the program were expanded to include the US? Kids would walk away with something of value, instead of those crazy trinkets.
