Pennies no longer fall from heaven north of the border. Earlier this month, the Canadian government began to phase out pennies. Obviously, there’s been some confusion at store registers.
Data shows that south of the Canadian border, the U. S. Treasury spends 2.4 cents to make a single cent. President Obama has asked for a different mix of metals to make penny production less costly, so perhaps kids will still be able to drop pennies into their piggy banks.
