The hazards of driving while texting (DWT) are well-known.

But what about parenting while texting, coined here as PWT?

Although many parents follow a family rule of no phones during mealtime, texting/checking email while watching kids at the playground is common.  Multi-tasking is built into parenting, and it’s so easy to push a swing while talking on the phone, some parents say, “Why not?”

Yet I hear “Watch me, watch me” echoing across playgrounds and soccer fields these days, as kids become vocal about getting undivided attention from the most important people in the world.

  1. Really interesting post – as a parent who works for a tech company, I’m either on my mobile or laptop almost all day! I am trying to cut down though 🙂

Also, I wanted to ask, would you be interested in having a chat about promoting your writing on a social media site called that I’m launching? We’re a Q&A platform – and I’m really keen to get some talented bloggers involved in our community before we roll out to the rest of the world.

If you’re interested, please email me at and I’ll send you an invite code to have a snoop around the site!
