I’m watching with great interest the results of a DC-area school district and their collection of data with the Gallup organization.
Students in Montgomery County will answer questions about their level of engagement, emotional well-being and optimism (yes, hope) for meeting goals during the school year.
Some might say this previews a coming backlash against the test culture that has been so demanding and demoralizing (without significant improvements) in the recent past.
I like to think (dare I hope?) perhaps some Academic Bean Counters will finally concede that emotional well-being relates to school performance.
