Overscheduled kids

December is the toughest month of the year for families.

Yes, we look forward to the holidays, with all the decorations, music, excitement and traditions, but over scheduling spikes.

It’s hard enough to find a healthy balance between enrichment activities and school, but adding a layer of toy and clothing drives, gift exchanges and holiday activities can take stress levels over the top.

Easy solutions?

I wish. But there’s always list-making, prioritizing and eliminating what really doesn’t need to happen before December 25.

And just think: those boring, dark January days will soon be here.
