It’s been exciting to observe the progress our oldest grandson has made with reading. A first grader, he’s now devouring chapter books at a rapid pace.
But I wonder: will Josh and his classmates slow down enough to savor a good, although lengthy, book?
Are we moving beyond sound bytes to eye bytes? Some experts speculate that our digitally-trained brains will soon be able to skim a vast amount of material in a short amount of time.
