Allergies are more than a nuisance to the estimated 8% of children in the US with allergies to nuts, milk, eggs and other foods: more than 200 children die each year due to allergy-related issues.

In school cafeterias, allergic children are isolated from other kids during lunchtime and are often blamed for the bland birthday treats classmates can bring to school.

Although some kids wear traditional medical alert bands, temporary tattoos and write-on stickers now offer “cooler” alternatives that can make kids less self-conscious. The “fashion statements” deliver critical information for chaperones on out-of-school field trips or other care givers who don’t know a child’s medical history.
